Dr Melanie Dance

I was granted an MBBCh by the University of the Witwatersrand in 1981.  I did my  house job at Baragwanath Hospital, and truly loved being able to make peoples’ lives better. I qualified as  Paediatrician 1989, and worked at the Baragwanath Intensive Care where I obtained a further qualification in Intensive Care.  Two daughters were born in 1990 and 1992, but in spite of this my marriage ended in 1992.  In 1995 I transferred to general paediatrics at Baragwanath, and worked as a consultant there until I came to Sandton MediClinic in 1998.  My passion has been: to find the right diagnosis as painlessly as possible, and to give parents the knowledge they need to take good care of their children’s health.  I feel achievement when parents understand their childrens’ illness and feel empowered to manage it

Dr Roshni Naicker

I completed my medical degree at the University of Witwatersrand, before specializing as a Paediatrician at the Nelson Mandela School of Medicine & King Edward Hospital in Durban, Kwazulu Natal. I then worked as a junior consultant in Paediatric Nephrology for 18 months at the King Edward Hospital. Thereafter, I started private practice as a general Paediatrician at the Life Crompton hospital in Pinetown, Durban for 6 years. I then relocated my practice to Netcare Alberlito in Ballito, Durban where she practised for 7 years before relocating to Gauteng in January 2014. Practising general paediatrics often feels like searching for a” needle in a haystack”.  I find it challenging because it is very reliant on clinical acumen. The long term relationships built with children and families makes paediatrics absolutely rewarding. Being a mother to twins, myself, enables me to best understand both patients and parents. I see us as educators to parents of sick children and this creates an important paediatric dynamic. I am passionate about Paediatrics because I view children as life’s miracles.
