Dr Melanie Dance

I was granted an MBBCh by the University of the Witwatersrand in 1981. I did my house job at Baragwanath Hospital, and truly loved being able to make peoples’ lives better. I qualified as Paediatrician 1989, and worked at the Baragwanath Intensive Care where I obtained a further qualification in Intensive Care. Two daughters were born in 1990 and 1992, but in spite of this my marriage ended in 1992. In 1995 I transferred to general paediatrics at Baragwanath, and worked as a consultant there until I came to Sandton MediClinic in 1998. My passion has been: to find the right diagnosis as painlessly as possible, and to give parents the knowledge they need to take good care of their children’s health. I feel achievement when parents understand their childrens’ illness and feel empowered to manage it
